To successfully build an endowment to achieve its bold vision for future McGehee healthcare, McGehee Hospital announces a comprehensive campaign entitled Share the Pride.
A new 25-bed patient wing, 7-room Emergency Department and future rural healthcare clinic will require additional equipment and furnishings. The trustees’ priority is to recruit new physicians to replace retiring staff. Relocation incentives and support will be necessary to attract the best physicians to McGehee Hospital.
Gifts to this campaign provide a sustaining revenue stream that will ensure ongoing support for additional services, programs and medical staff, as it is needed.
The McGehee Hospital accepts gifts of any size from donors year round. Donors can choose to designate their gift to a particular cause (i.e. room, program or physician recruitment) or give to the general fund. The Board of Trustees designates general fund donations for projects. It can also accept gifts of equipment or materials on behalf of the hospital.
Cash (in the form of personal checks, credit cards, and bank drafts) is the most popular type of charitable gift the hospital receives. Cash contributions may be tax-deductible. Checks should be made payable to the Delta Area Community Foundation. Mail your gift to:

If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may claim an outright gift of cash as a charitable contribution up to an amount equal to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income. Any deduction not usable in the first year can be carried over for up to five additional years or until it is completely used, whichever is first. You may wish to consult your accountant or tax advisor to determine the tax benefit of your gift.
It is now easier than ever to support the mission of McGehee Hospital. Click the donation button to fill out the donation form and complete your payment information through our secure online payment system (PayPal). For a one-time donation, you do not need to set up a PayPal account. A receipt from the McGehee Hospital trustees will acknowledge all gifts.
A transfer of securities (stocks or bonds), held long term, to the Foundation allows you to make a gift and receive a charitable deduction equal to the full fair market value of the securities. You pay no capital gains tax on your gift, and neither does the Delta Area Community Foundation.
Please contact John Heard of McGehee Hospital at 870-222-5600 or Pat Post of Delta Area Community Foundation at 870-352-1288 for assistance when transferring assets. You will want to donate the securities before selling the assets and then making a gift of the proceeds, as this may trigger a capital gains liability for you if the stocks are sold prior to a charitable transfer. It may be possible to deduct the value of these securities up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income. Any excess can be carried over for an additional five years, if necessary.
